Removing your gel manicure at home is an important step in maintaining the health of your nails and preparing for a new application. Today, the nails expert Maryton will tell you how to remove your gel manicure in this article.

Here’s how to do it step by step:

Step 1: Prepare Your Workspace to Remove Your Gel Manicure

Step 3: Applying the Cotton Pads

Place a piece of cotton soaked in acetone on each nail, making sure to cover the entire surface of the gel.

Step 4: Wrapping in Aluminum Foil

Wrap each finger in aluminum foil to hold the cotton pads in place and maximize the effectiveness of the acetone.

Step 5: Waiting

Let the acetone-soaked cotton pads sit on your nails for about 10 to 15 minutes. This step allows the acetone to soften and dissolve the gel.

Step 6: Removing the Gel

After letting the acetone sit, carefully remove the cotton pads and aluminum foil from each finger. Use a wooden stick to gently scrape the softened gel from the nail surface. If necessary, repeat the process until all of the gel is removed.

Step 7: Moisturize

Once the gel is completely removed, rinse your hands with warm water and dry them thoroughly. Then apply a moisturizer to nourish and hydrate your nails and skin.
